Anderson addresses Hannah's situation

In the course of less than 24 hours, Mike Anderson went from one of his highest moments of the season to one of the lowest. Following a 66-62 win in which his Tigers overcame a 13-point deficit in the final eight minutes for their first road win of the season, Anderson was awakened with the news his star guard, Stefhon Hannah, was in the hospital following an altercation outside a Columbia night club.

"That's the mind-boggling thing, those are the things that we always talk about. We've been so close in so many games, we finally had a game where we made some plays, we overcame some adversity, so they're feeling good," Anderson said. "Then you get a call like that, it just takes everything back, it takes a little bit out of you, like, 'What went wrong?'

"You get those calls. I guess sometimes, when you get a call late in the night, as a coach, sometimes you know it ain't very good."

Hannah has been upgraded from serious to good condition at University Hospital in Columbia. He has a broken jaw, which required surgery, and will be out from four to six weeks based on early estimates.

"Stef's doing well. I got a chance yesterday to see him after he came out of the surgery with the broken jaw. The surgery went well and Stef's doing well," Anderson said. "He was sitting up, so he's doing well. Right now, that's the most important thing. That's where my thoughts are "

Hannah's health is the main concern for Anderson, but the talk has already begun about an ongoing string of off-court issues facing the Tigers. Hannah is the fifth member of the team to be involved with an incident off the court in the last eight months.

Anderson said he is still trying to gather information about what happened Saturday night. Following an incident with Kalen Grimes last summer--which resulted in Grimes being dismissed from the team--Anderson instituted a "no tolerance" policy regarding off the court behavior. He was asked about that policy multiple times on Monday morning and how it relates to Hannah.
