Defense must stop bleeding

Mark Gottfried recognizes his head must be on a swivel to see all that ails Alabama's basketball team these days.

It has been an equal-opportunity struggle for the Crimson Tide: offense or defense, paint or perimeter, free throws or three-woes.

But as Alabama emerges from the quarter pole of the Southeastern Conference season at 0-4 in the league, Gottfried's emphasis is on defense.


When the Crimson Tide (record) takes its home floor Saturday afternoon against rival Auburn, getting stops will be priority No. 1.
