Tigers cruise to win over the Blue Hose

Rasheem Barrett scored 24 points and three more Tigers scored in double figures as Auburn cruised to a 78-65 win over Presbyterian Tuesday night at Beard-Eaves Coliseum.

Barrett made 9-of-11 from the field, many on pull-up jumpers in the lane, and was 4-of-5 from 3-point range. He added 10 rebounds for his second career double-double.

"Rasheem was efficient tonight," said AU head coach Jeff Lebo. "He got 24 points on 11 shots, which is good."

DeWayne Reed added 12 points, Matt Heramb scored 11 off the bench and Quan Prowell had 10 for the Tigers, who were in control for much of the game leading by as many as 24 points in the second half.

Presbyterian made a late 14-0 run to cut the lead to 10 points with two minutes remaining but missed its final four 3-point attempts as AU made 3-of-5 from the free throw line.

Barrett said Lebo challenged his team not to lose focus against the Blue Hose after winning two straight SEC contests.

"Any player in the country will tell you it's extremely hard," said Barrett. "You just have to find some way to stay excited and stay pumped. When you're playing and your lead goes up … you start making poor mistakes.

"At halftime we told everybody not to get in bad habits. These are the games you can easily get in bad habits. We tried to stay away from that."
