UA moves up Dean's list

While the Alabama Crimson Tide hosted a large group of official visitors last weekend, one top prospect took his visit a little later than the rest. Katy (Texas) running back Aundre Dean dropped into Tuscaloosa on Sunday just after the rest of the Tide recruits left town and the 6-foot-1, 200-pound back had good things to say about his visit to the Capstone.

"I arrived at Alabama on Sunday morning and left Monday afternoon around 3. My parents flew in with me and it went great. I was the only recruit there so it was just us and all the Alabama coaches. They were all nice. My parents and I thought they were all very genuine and high character people," Dean said. "We talked about it on the way home and they were just as caught off guard as I was. It was amazing because we have never been there before but we felt so comfortable. I think it was because of the people.

"I expected the campus to be nice but it exceeded our expectations. It was so nice, the whole campus is what you would expect and then you see they are still building. It's a great college environment."

Dean spent some time during the visit speaking with several of the Tide coaches one on one and said he was pleased with what each coach had to say.

"I hung out with all the coaches really but I liked Coach (Burton) Burns. He told me how they lost a lot of games by one score and how I could fit in with them. He said I would have the chance to play as a freshman which is what I would like to do," Dean said. "I also talked to Coach (Applewhite) who is a cool guy. He told me I was the perfect fit at Alabama. He showed me their packages and how I would fit in and he was spot on. I would fit in with them.

"I was also impressed with Coach Saban. He told me his focus was on academics and high character people. He said that Alabama gives you every advantage you will every need in life. I like that it's about more than just football for him. My parents liked him also especially when they saw his priorities."

Dean still plans on making a few more visits before signing day but said the visit did a lot to boost Alabama's standing with the four-star back.

"This visit helped Alabama alot. I didn't know what to expect but I was impressed with everything they have to offer. I'm not ready to name a favorite but Alabama made a very good impression on me and my parents," Dean said. "I'm not sure how many schools I'm looking at. I know I'll visit Arkansas and UCLA for sure. After that I could have a decision but I also might visit LSU and take unofficial visits to Texas and Texas A&M. This is all going to happen pretty quick but I don't want to make a rash decision."
