Commodores sound off after South Carolina victory

Vanderbilt stayed undefeated after posting an 80-73 victory over South Carolina in the Southeastern Conference opener on Wednesday evening. Following the game, Coach Kevin Stallings and players Jermaine Beal, Shan Foster and Alex Gordon addressed the media regarding the game, and VandySports.com has the complete transcript of their comments.

Vanderbilt guard Shan Foster

Foster on his night:
"I was looking for it [his stroke] but it wasn't there tonight but South Carolina did a great job covering me. Their defensive scheme was great and executed well. But we have great teammates on this team, that step up in times of struggle.

"On a night where weren't shooting the ball as great as we have been in the past, we were able to step up our defense and people knocked down our shots. AJ played great and we were able to get the win."

Foster on senior leadership importance:
"We have a lot of young guys on this team so we don't really know what to expect out of SEC play. It was up to us seniors to get these guys ready and pretty much show them the way."
