Dion Jordan makes decision

Chandler (Ariz.) tight end Dion Jordan is among the top recruits in the nation, with a four-star Rivals rating and 4.6 speed. The 6-foot-6, 215-pounder boasts offers from major college programs across the nation, but has decided on one.

The Oregon Ducks picked up their 16th commitment for the class of 2008, when Jordan informed the Duck staff he would be a Duck.

"I committed to Oregon on Saturday," confirmed to Duck Sports Authority.

Jordan suffered serious burns to 30% of his body in a freak accident in early October while draining gasoline from a tank he was planning to work on.

"It was pretty bad, and I missed about the last four or five games of the season".

Some skin grafts and other similar procedures have Jordon nearing the end of his physical recovery and is even playing basketball for the first time since his sophomore year.

"I am 100% better".

Primarily recruited by wide receivers coach Robin Pflugrad, Jordan is the fifth four-star athlete to decide to play his college ball in Eugene this year, along with DT Justin Thompson, RB LaGarrette Blount, OL Nick Cody and QB Darron Thomas. The Ducks will add another seven or so players to this year's commitment list before they are through.

Jordan selected the Ducks over Arizona State, Washington, Arizona, California, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska and others.

Stay tuned to Duck Sports Authority as recruiting hits the home stretch in the final month leading up to Letter-of-Intent Day February 6, 2008.

Note: DSA first spoke with the third-ranked prospect in the State of Arizona on Monday, but agreed to withhold the story until he had a chance to speak with the other coaches. "Out of respect for the other coaches who recruited me, I would appreciate if you would wait until I have a chance to talk to them (to release the story)."
