Barksdale still committed to Rebels?

Ole Miss top commit is a man of few words.

When reached Sunday night, South Panola's Darrius Barksdale had little to say about the recent dismissal of Ole Miss coach Ed Orgeron.

"I didn't find out about it until today," Barksdale said. "I don't know what to say, I was totally shocked. I thought he was guaranteed one more year for sure."

Barksdale is one of three South Panola Tigers that have already made their pledges to Ole Miss.

When asked how this affects his pledge to the Rebels, Barksdale hesitated before answering.

"I'm not sure at this point," Barksdale said. "Right now I'm still committed. I want to wait and see who they hire."

Barksdale and his Tigers are currently undefeated and working towards their fourth straight state championship as a group.

"Everyone is after us," Barksdale said. "We just have to keep playing hard."

Barksdale was recently named to the U.S. Army All-American All-Star game.

Barksdale is also ranked the No. 2 overall athlete in the state of Mississippi by Rivals.com and is currently a four star prospect.
