Wilks Provides Spark

Darnell Wilks showed off his tremendous athleticism with a couple highlight reel dunks in the Bearcats’ 69-64 win over the Fairfield Stags.

Wilks scored all six of his points in spectacular fashion. He took his man baseline and slammed one down just a few minutes after he entered the game. A minute later, Wilks threw down an ally-oop from Deonta Vaughn. He also dropped in an acrobatic lay-up off the break and drew a foul.

"Darnell gave us great energy in the first half," said Head Coach Mick Cronin "You can see he's got a world of talent. His development is going to be key for this team, because he's a guy that can help us from a rebounding standpoint especially from the offensive end."

Cronin said he thought it was a good win for his team because it was the best they had played on the defensive end all year.

The Bearcats forced 14 turnovers and held Fairfield to 32.1% shooting for the game. In the first half the Stags shot just 26.9% from the field. UC played a lot more zone than usual and Coach Cronin implemented the press more than he had in any other game this year.
