St. Francis: Keys to the game

The Red Storm try for win number two tonight at Carnesecca Arena as they welcome the Sacred Heart Pioneers to Jamaica. It will be St. John's second straight NEC opponent after opening the season with a 72-64 win over St. Francis.

These early games are the ones the Red Storm have to pick up to build confidence. Playing at home isn't a bad thing either and could be what the Red Storm need right before a mini Thanksgiving break.

Scouting St. John's

The key for the Red Storm will be controlling the tempo from start to finish. If Eugene Lawrence and Malik Boothe can establish the offense and defense early, they'll have no problem shutting down the Pioneers.

This might be a game where the wing players, [DB Mason Jr.]Anthony Mason Jr.[/db] (he is scheduled to play), Larry Wright and D.J. Kennedy can be effective putting the ball on the floor, because there's no one that can match them on the other end.

With the wing game working, missed shots should be followed up by Tomas Jasuilionis, Justin Burrell and Dele Coker.

The Pioneers don't have one guy who can match the St. John's front line and the Red Storm will look to exploit that advantage.
