UCLA advances with win

The Bruins are perfect 4-0 on the season and shook off a somewhat sloppy first half, but took control of the basketball game in the second half. UCLA made it four in a row and maybe even more impressive is each victory has been by double figures. Maybe even more impressive is the fact the Bruins have been without their star point guard Darren Collison.

Once again it was a solid defensive effort by the Bruins holding Maryland 40 percent from the field limiting the Terrapins to 22-55 shooting. UCLA was even stingier defensively from beyond the three-point stripe holding Maryland to 1-11 on three pointers.

The Bruins had a sluggish start due to poor shot selection and turnovers. For the game the Bruins only shot 37.7 percent from the floor, but held a demanding rebounding edge 44-29.

Bruins freshman sensation Kevin Love had another outstanding game scoring 18 points and a game high 16 rebounds. He was also very sharp with his passes. He also picked up a steal for another fine day at the office for Love.

Hard to believe, but Love could be better than advertized,

Senior guard Josh Shipp also had a solid game tying Love for a team high 18 points. Shipp's output included two threes and thunderous poster dunk that fired the Bruins up.
