Height just a number to Negedu
Arizona received the first commitment of what was to be a stellar 2008 recruiting class on May 1st when four-star power forward Emmanuel Negedu verbally committed to the UA.
The Brewster Academy star has likely already played basketball in more places than any of his future teammates and has honed his skills on multiple continents.
An explosive athlete, Negedu is expected to play the power forward spot for Arizona and some critics have said that he is too small to be competitive at that position in college, but Negedu isn't worried.
"I don't think height matters for anything," he said. "Height is just a number. It doesn't count for anything, I just do whatever I want to do and play the best I can."
At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, Negedu plays above the rim and makes plays all over the court. He says that the biggest thing he brings to the floor is an infusion of energy and tenacity.
"I think what I'm bringing is energy and I give all I can every game," he said. "I just bring more energy to the game. I do everything that I can to help the team win."
Though his athleticism will take him far, he knows that developing skills to complement his physical gifts is important for him to maximize his potential.
"Right now I'm working on my defense and things like that," Negedu said. "I'm working on my outside shot and it's getting a lot better than it used to be."
