Young players must step up for AU hoops

When Auburn opens exhibition play Thursday they'll take to the floor with a far different team than expected.

Missing from the lineup with be forwards Josh Dollard and Quan Prowell - AU's top two scorers from a year ago and two players that were supposed to lead the Tigers back to postseason play.

Dollard will miss the entire season due to unspecified medical reasons. Suspended for a violation of team rules, Prowell will miss a minimum of six games including Thursday's exhibition opener against Bluefield College.

"It's obviously going to impact taking two of your leading scorers and rebounders, and their experience off the team," said AU head coach Jeff Lebo. "Other guys are going to have to play that maybe aren't ready to play as much as we'd like at this point of they year.

"We'll make the adjustments best we can and move forward."
