Rush close to contact drills

Kansas begins exhibition play against Pittsburg State on Thursday night. On Monday afternoon, Bill Self conducted his first weekly press conference of the season. While he touched on a variety of topics, Self spent quite a bit of time talking about junior guard Brandon Rush and where he is, from an injury standpoint, at this time.

Self loves his guards.

Self opened up the press conference by talking about his three-headed monster of Russell Robinson, Mario Chalmers and Sherron Collins. Self believes this tandem has the talent and ability to match up against any other backcourt as long as they remain healthy.

According to Self, he's been pleased with Robinson, Chalmers and Collins during practice, and wouldn't trade any of them for anybody else.

"I personally wouldn't trade them for anybody," said Self. "I think they are (as good as any group in the country). I really believe that there are a lot of good guards in the country right now. This is the year of the point guard, so to speak, is what they are saying."
