Bearcats Prepare for Season

After the last few seasons of turmoil, the 2007-08 Bearcats should finally start to bring some consistency back to the University of Cincinnati basketball program. Although the team is still young and inexperienced, it is the first time head coach Mick Cronin will have had a full roster of players that he recruited since he came to UC.

Last season's leading scorer and member of the 2006-07 BIG EAST All-Rookie Team, Deonta Vaughn, highlights the group of returning players.

The Bearcats also return last season's leading rebounder and second leading scorer, John Williamson, Jamual Warren, Marcus Sikes, and Marvin Gentry. Gentry should be a more consistent shooter this year now that he is healthy.

Warren, Sikes and Williamson should benefit most from the size and depth added to the Bearcats' depleted front court in the off-season. Sikes played out of position last year but this season he will be able to play the wing where he is more comfortable and more effective.

Coach Cronin sees Warren as a pass-first point guard who should make a big impact on games this year with his play-making abilities.
