Kyle out ... for now

Quarterback Kyle Wright left the Florida State game midway through the second quarter saying he heard a "pop" when his left ankle and knee were twisted up.

And Wright was not on the practice field today as UM started its bye week work. He has the ankle immobilized. Coach Randy Shannon said after practice that he expects Wright to be ready for the next game against NC State.

"He'll be back next week," Shannon said. "It's an ankle, so that's about all."

Shannon reiterated that Wright is his starting quarterback. Kirby Freeman raised his stock with a game-winning touchdown pass against Florida State. But he struggled up to that point.
