Nation's number 30 player talks UGA

Late in May, the University of Georgia received some huge news when Howard Thompkins announced he would be a Bulldog. Dennis Felton landed a commitment from the number 30 player in the country on Rivals and we caught up with him to see if he was still excited about UGA.

"I can't wait to sign with Georgia," said Thompkins. "I am very excited about going there and I will be signing the first day I can in November. I am just waiting on that day right now."

The 6-foot-8, 225-pound four-star power forward out of Norcross (Ga.) - Wesleyan had many options to choose from, but he decided to stay in state and play in Athens.

"Georgia is a great school and it is also very convenient. It is only about an hour from home, so my family will be able to see me play without having to miss work or anything - it is just a great fit."

"I also think Georgia is an up and coming program that I think I can contribute at. I know a lot of the players, I love the staff there, I get along with everyone and I could say many different reasons why I chose Georgia."

Thompkins picked UGA over schools like Georgia Tech and Florida and Coach Mike Jones was one of the reasons.
