Inside the game: Vidal Hazelton

Vidal Hazelton heard the play call and felt confident. He lined up at the Idaho one-yard line and gave John David Booty a quick stare.

Moments later, "I looked in the air, and the ball was there, and it looked like gold to me," the sophomore receiver said.

One problem - his left hand was stuck on the defender's shoulder pad.

"It was like, I can't let this (the ball) get away from me, so I just went up there and got it," Hazelton said.

He "got it" by reaching up with his right hand and corralling the ball in toward his body. It was his first career touchdown catch and his only reception Saturday night that gained fewer than 11 yards.

Hazelton was the team's third leading receiver - with 44 yards on four receptions - in USC's 38-10 victory against Idaho. Yet, he stood out, as a result of how he caught the ball.
