Grading out - Mississippi State

It would be tough to call LSU's biggest shutout win over a current SEC opponent on the road disappointing, so we won't do that.

We'll settle for a little sloppy on the offensive end, with mitigating circumstances thrown in.

It was the first game for Gary Crowton, Matt Flynn's first regular season start, it was raining for much of the first half, and the footing was suspect.

Add to that the fact that Mississippi State was determined to gift-wrap this thing for LSU, and the Tigers just took what they needed.

Did they hold back things for Virginia Tech? Probably. How much is the question that will linger most of the week in Baton Rouge.
