2007 Fall Football Practice Report #12

Thursday's practice marked the first day when the team split into crimson helmets or gray helmets, representing the travel team and the scout team, respectively.

The day also marked the return of some more Cougars coming off the injury list. Chris Baltzer, who saw limited action in only three games last season, was fully suited up for the first time this fall. Also returning was senior Markus Dawes, who wore the cautionary yellow jersey for the practice.

Also returning to Thursday's practice was senior Aaron Johnson and freshmen Tyrone Justin and Daniel Blackledge. On the contrary, heralded recruit Terry Mixon returned to the sidelines after one day of being suited up on the field.

In front of a scout for the San Diego Chargers, there were some impressive plays for the Cougars. On a potential touchdown catch, Finas Rabb was stripped from behind by safety Eric Block, much to the delight of his secondary teammates and much to the disappointment of wide receivers coach Mike Levenseller.

Wide receiver Benny Ward looked good, reeling in a touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Marshall Lobbestael. He also caught a Gary Rogers pass that was headed towards his shoelaces.
