Tailback Notebook: Fundamentals First

It's hard to truly gage how effective a running back will be when they are playing without pads.

Wednesday at Howard Jones Field gave us our first look at how the ten-deep roster of running backs would react to a little contact.

Pass Blocking:

Considered the deal-breaker for playing time for many of the backs, you often hear pundits say, "Yeah, he can run, but can he block?" It was clear from the start that experience breeds confidence and comfort, and the two freshmen backs were anything but comfortable. Both Joe McKnight and Jordan Campbell were placed squarely on their backsides on their first attempt against the blitzing linebackers.
