Four-star RB loves AU, decision soon

A who's who of top running back prospects has visited Auburn camps this summer including four-star Eric Smith.

The Seffner (Fla.) Armwood standout visited the Plains for the first time this weekend for the Tigers one-day, senior mini-camp.

The 5-foot-10, 240-pounder arrived Friday where he met with AU assistant coach Greg Knox.

"Coach Knox took us around the facilities and the town Friday," said Smith. "I like Auburn. It's a football city. Everything is pretty much football and you can tell everything is Auburn, Auburn, Auburn.

"Coach Knox asked me if I liked it and I told him I loved it."

Smith worked with AU running backs coach Eddie Gran during the camp.

"The camp was pretty good," said Smith. "I really wasn't 100 percent because I hurt my ankle a week ago but I still did everything.

"I got to talk to coach Gran and build a better relationship with him. Coach Gran was telling me everything I did right and a couple of things I did wrong. The one thing he was telling me was to eliminate my false step and stay downhill."

Knox and Gran weren't the only Auburn coaches Smith met this weekend.

"I talked to most of the coaches and shook all their hands," said Smith. "They looked me straight in the eye and talked to me like a man."

While Smith has a number of offers to choose from it looks like his final decision will come down to two schools.
