'It really just felt like me'

Robert Blanton didn't need many adjectives to describe Notre Dame.

"It just felt great, the place I needed to be," Blanton said the day after committing to the Irish. "The place is great, the coaches are great, the staff outside the coaches are great. The professors and admissions advisors are great too. The education is great.

"It really just felt like me."

Add it all up and Blanton didn't need much convincing to take himself off the market. He made his pledge to Notre Dame official on Wednesday afternoon during a conference call with his parents, Charlie Weis and Corwin Brown. While the decision to pick Notre Dame over offers from Virginia Tech, Michigan, Maryland and Georgia may have been easy in the end, it's Notre Dame's defensive coordinator that helped make it so.
