Post-spring evaluation: running backs

WVU has stockpiled so many super backs in recent years, it now has two waves of them. The traditional scatbacks, who slip to wide receiver before a defense can sub, and power backs who can line up as the one-back only.

In the first wave of fluid athletes, you have Playboy All-American Steve Slaton, who will break many a rushing record in this, his junior season. You also have fast Eddie Davis and powerful Jetavious Best. Top 5 2007 running back commit Noel Devine will also join the list. Do not sleep on incoming freshman Jock Sanders and the state's Tommy Spurlock.

So, that's six supers.

Also, at tailback is H-back Owen Schmitt, who has started 10 games in two years either at TB or fullback; Ed Collington, who rushed for 33 yards on five carries in the Gator Bowl, and possibly freshman Terence Kerns, a bull.
