Speed demon Demps has offers
Earlier this month Groveland (Fla.) South Lake athlete Jeff Demps made his annual transition from running track to putting on the pads to participate in spring football.
The switch was a bit unusual this year considering that for the first time he had daily observers in the form of college football coaches, who made it a point to stop in the fastest high school athlete in the history of the state of Florida.
In late April, the 5-foot-10, 170-pound sprinter set a state record by running the fastest legal (non wind aided) 100 meters in FHSAA history when he turned in an amazing time of 10.37 seconds.
He gives much of the credit to the other runners he was going up against.
