Spring review: linebackers

Ian Campbell dominated from his defensive end position last season, and Kansas State hopes he can do the same as a linebacker in the Wildcats' new 3-4 scheme. Campbell will be counted on to lead a unit that must replace Zac Diles and Brandon Archer, K-State's two most productive linebackers and top two overall tacklers in 2006.

The Good News: Campbell racked up 11.5 sacks and broke onto the scene last year, and an outside linebacker position in the 3-4 figures to take full advantage of Campbell's ability as a pass rusher. The change will also give K-State the flexibility to move Campbell around and make it harder for offenses to identify him. The switch could also be good for Eric Childs.
