Nolen excels at 19 and under event

This weekend Gopher recruit Al Nolen Jr. took the court with some top players from Minnesota and flourished leading his team to a tournament championship. With shooters and an effective big man on his team, Nolen was unstoppable getting to the basket allowing his team to win the Magic Invite, 19 and Under title over a team led by Marquette commit Trevor Mbakwe.

Al Nolen is a three star point guard who committed to the University of Minnesota before his junior season at Minneapolis Henry and Al will graduate next month with a solid academic record.

This weekend Nolen played with a Magic team that included Hopkins sophomore sensation Raymond Cowles, Wisconsin commit Jon Leuer and Wyoming football commit John Hutchins. This is somewhat different of a line-up then Al has been used to and with shooters and size inside Al Nolen flourished. The Minneapolis Patrick Henry program is one Minnesota's best in high school basketball and they have several talented basketball players who will find success in high school and in college. But they had to play a different style of basketball at Henry and it's based on their athletic ability more so then size and shooting.
