Getting to know Gary McGhee

The 2006-07 basketball season is over for Pitt, but recruiting never ends; as such, Jamie Dixon and his staff are currently working on getting commitments from the class of 2008. In the meantime, the Pantherlair is taking a look at Dixon's most recent class of recruits, the class of 2007.

A Rivals Top150 prospect…McGhee ranks as the No. 14 center in the nation…9th overall prospect in the state of Indiana in the class of 2007…a center prospect who can give Pitt some much-needed size in the middle…scored 22 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and blocked 8 shots in Highlands' playoff loss this season…led the state of Indiana in rebounding as a junior, surpassing lottery pick Greg Oden…chose Pitt over Big Ten offers from Indiana and Wisconsin…has a cousin who started for Oklahoma's Final Four team in 2002

What has been your most memorable moment on the basketball court? This year on senior night, we won. I had 37 points, 18 rebounds and 8 blocks. We clinched our first winning season in 13 years.

Who is your role model on the basketball court? Shaq. I love how he plays, and how much power he plays with.
