Illinois' Hamga becoming major target for Cats

Kentucky fans have been buzzing with anticipation about Illinois big man Beas Hamga, a top junior prospect who has been rumored to be considering reclassification to the Class of 2007.

Hamga, whose first name is pronounced BEE-az, is originally from the Republic of Cameroon in central Africa. The 7-foot, 225-pound center is currently rated No. 4 at his position and No. 32 overall in the Class of 2008.

In addition to Kentucky and Iowa, Hamga has drawn strong interest from Florida, Texas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Texas Tech, Louisville, Miami, Indiana, UConn, Georgetown, UNLV, Memphis and Tennessee.
