Gopher recruits react to hire of Smith

The wait for Minnesota Gopher fans is over as Tubby Smith will be named head coach tomorrow at a noon press conference. Recruits Al Nolen Jr. and Blake Hoffarber were both surprised by the news but that initial shock quickly turned to excitement as their new leader will be a former national champion.

Blake Hoffarber, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Hopkins, has been slowly getting over the shock of his team's second round loss to Minnetonka in the playoffs last week. But today he had a chance to look towards the future as Tubby Smith was announced as the new head coach at Minnesota.

Just like this past December when Hoffarber heard the news of Dan Monson's firing at school, Blake found out the news of Tubby Smith's hiring at school.
