Analyzing Arizona: Bench Development

Note: This is the first of several articles taking an in-depth look into different issues surrounding the Arizona program. The order of these articles isn't representative of our feeling regarding the significance of each subject discussed.

Arizona came into its 2006-07 season boasting what fans and experts thought would be one of the Wildcats' deepest lineups in quite some time. The UA was loaded from top to bottom with high school stars and players with supposed big time potential at the college level.

The Wildcats' depth was "proven" right away in the team's first exhibition, a 125-74 victory over Team Georgia. Freshman backup point guard Nic Wise scored 24 points to go with four assists and one turnover. Sophomore forward Fendi Onobun was impressive, scoring six points with eight boards in 15 minutes.
