Predicting what's going to happen on Signing Day is often like throwing darts blind-folded, you'll hit the board a few times but with little accuracy.

However, Rivals.com National Recruiting Analyst Mike Farrell steps up to the line to give it his best shot.

Here are five things that Farrell expects from Signing Day 2007:

Rivals5: Signing Day predictions

1) Marvin Austin will shock the world….sort of

Everyone expected Marvin Austin to pick Florida State as recently as a few days ago. However, recent rumors point to a commitment to North Carolina.

It's hard to shock the world these days with everyone following the recruiting process so closely, but it's still going to be a tad surprising to see Austin in a UNC hat after more than a year of picturing him signing with USC, Florida State or Miami.

2) Notre Dame will lose at least one commitment

Either Chris Little, Greg Little or Ian Williams will sign elsewhere. The most likely candidate is Williams, but both of the Littles (no relation) have a penchant for changing their minds.

Florida has been making a big push for Williams, Georgia has been after Chris Little and UNC is pushing hard for Greg Little. Heck, it might be someone not even mentioned. However, where there's smoke there's usually fire. If Notre Dame keeps its 20 commitments intact through Signing Day, that's a big victory.

3) Florida will have a surprise signee

The Jerimy Finch secret is out, and I was hoping that one would last into Signing Day to make this prediction easier. However, I still think Florida has another surprise up its sleeve.

I'm not sure who it will be, and honestly I have no inside knowledge. But this is the most aggressive staff in the country, and they likely have at least one surprise in them. If Deonte Thompson picks Florida, I'm counting that one.

4) Florida State will push into the top 25

Heading into Signing Day, the Seminoles are ranked a very uncharacteristic No. 39 in the country. Don't expect them to be held out of the top 25. Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln defensive back Brandon Paul is a lock, and FSU has a good chance at stealing away a few players.

Wide receiver Markish Jones (Clemson), Jerry Howard (Florida), running back Robert Elliott (Ole Miss) and a few others are possibilities. If they can steal a couple away and land a surprise here or there, the top 25 is in reach.

5) Southern California will finish No. 2

Everyone seems to think it's a Florida-LSU battle for the top two spots, but somehow I think Southern Cal comes up with enough to finish second. The numbers don't add up for this prediction if everything goes as expected on Signing Day, but when was the last time everything went as expected?
