In-state QB pulls the trigger

Quarterback Kirk Cousins of Holland Christian High School is no stranger to hard work. When you carry and 4.0 GPA taking Advanced Placement classes and play 3-sports, you certainly know something about getting the job done. SpartanMag.com just spoke with Cousins and he confirmed that he has indeed wrapped up his recruitment and will be joining Coach Dantonio as a member of the Michigan State Spartan recruiting class of 2007.

Cousins committed to the Spartans the night before he was scheduled to take an official visit to the University Colorado to check out the Buffalos. Colorado was offering Cousins a grey-shirt opportunity. Schools such as Western Michigan, Toledo and Northern Illinois had offered Cousins a full scholarship.

Cousins had the following to say about his commitment to Michigan State.

Coach Dantonio and his staff have been very thorough the past few weeks. They have made it clear that they want to bring in two quarterbacks. They have offers out to Nick Fanuzzi and Matt Simms and still hope top land one of those players. However due to the fact that the Spartan have only 2 quarterbacks on the entire roster on scholarship, they had to make sure they got another quality signal-caller in this class.

As far as the prospect of having another quarterback come in, Cousins indicated that it does not bother him.

Cousins had an outstanding senior year for Holland Christian. He threw for 2100+ yards and 28 touchdowns. He led Holland Christian into the playoffs for the first time in school history. He was named All-Area Player of the Year, 1st team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State.

Spartanmag.com will have more on Cousins and his commitment in the near future.
