Samuels puts forth MVP effort Friday night

RALEIGH, N.C. - Samardo Samuels was not pleased with the way he played in Newark (N.J.) St. Benedict's overtime victory on Thursday night, so he picked up his game in Friday night's championship of the Glaxo-Smith-Kline Holiday Invitational, leading his team to a 69-43 victory.

"Well, first of all, yesterday, I didn't think we played a good game as a team, as opposed to the level we should be playing at," said Samuels. "So, we were coming out and planning to play a good game anyway, and this morning, we woke up and I heard that we were the No. 2 (seed) in the Tournament, which was a shocker to me. So, that put even more motivation, so we just came out and beat them bad."
