Freshmen stepping up in bowl practices

Bowl practices have been going on for a couple of weeks at Oklahoma. Coaches have been spending most of their time out on the road recruiting, but some coaches have stayed in Norman working out younger players the last two weeks.

McCoy has reportedly looked very good in bowl practices and he'll be a factor next season on the defensive line.

Sam Bradford - Bradford was recently named one of the Sooners' scout team players of the year for 2006. Kevin Wilson is also raving about the freshman's arm strength and athleticism. Bradford isn't the favorite to win the starting quarterback job next year but he's not exactly a darkhorse either. Bradford barely received any snaps during the season as Paul Thompson and Joey Halzle took most of the reps in practices during the week. If Bradford can make an impressive leap during the offseason in learning the offense he will be a major factor in the race for the starting quarterback job in 2007.
