Ray gets Illini offer

Six-foot-two, 297-pound Chicago Mount Carmel all-state offensive lineman Arthur Ray Jr. just finished up a 12-2 senior season that ended with a 44-21 loss to Wheaton South in the class 8A state championship game.

Ray, a verbal commitment to Boston College since mid-July, didn't want to see his final year of high school football end with a loss, but probably figured the end of the season wrapped up a terrific career that would continue on the east coast with the Eagles.

Ray will almost certainly be at Boston College December 8th for an official visit. He originally committed to the Eagles over nearly a dozen other offers including Colorado State, Indiana, Iowa State, Kentucky, Akron, Miami of Ohio and Northern Illinois.
