NU Notes: Huskers brave the elements on Thursday

With game time temperatures projected to be in the low 20's, the Nebraska football team used Thursday as a day to get acclimated to what they're going to see Saturday night in Arrowhead Stadium against Oklahoma.

The Huskers went outside for an entire practice for the first time this week. On Tuesday, NU was outside for the beginning of practice, but moved things indoors after about the first 20 minutes.

NU head coach Bill Callahan addressed the media on Thursday bundled up in a stocking cap and parka jacket and joked that he enjoys this kind of weather.

"We got acclimated today," Callahan said. "We ordered this weather and it was great. It was good to be out in the weather and the elements. We got acclimated, so it's a good thing. It will be the same type of atmosphere on Saturday night. This was good to get outside today."

Some of NU's offensive linemen even took things another step on Thursday by not wearing any long sleeves or pants on the practice field.

"It was fun," Callahan said. "We got a lot of things accomplished, but again it's important to get out and practice in this type of atmosphere. So they can acclimate on Saturday night and it's a little easier."
