Auburn opens with exhibition win

In the days leading up to Friday's exhibition opener against Faulkner, Jeff Lebo and the Auburn basketball team didn't spend any time game-planning for the Eagles.

After all, Lebo had enough to worry about with his own team.

For a five-minute span in the first half of Friday's game, the Tigers looked decidedly unready.

But then AU's edge in talent took over. And Lebo's team ran away with an 87-75 win, in a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicates.

The Tigers won despite a short bench: Only six players played more than 12 minutes.

"We played awfully hard tonight with limited numbers. I thought we did some good things," Lebo said. "We ran out of gas a little in the second half, but overall we did some good things.
