Wednesday's practice in the books

Wednesday's practice is in the books as the Bruins get ready for the very tough Cal Bears. The players know and understand what they need to do. Everyone, especially on the offensive side of the ball needs to be on the same page. The scout team has been vastly improved by the participation of wide receiver Joe Cowan and cornerback Michael Norris.

Cowan was hurt very early in the training camp, but up till then he looked very polished. He was the squad's leading returning receiver.

Norris was hurt during the scrimmage when he picked off a pass, but he played on anyway. The pain and swelling kicked in the next day.

Both players were counted on to help the Bruins this season, so it was good to see them helping in another way. Not quite how the Bruins had hoped they would help, but the good news is they are being very productive this week during practice.

As always, Bruin coach Karl Dorrell met with the media after practice.

"We have work to do," Dorrell said. "We know this is a great week for us to do something good and our mindset is gearing ourselves each and everyday to getting ourselves ready for a great game this weekend.
