Prospects play under the lights
Most teams in western Pennsylvania have finished their regular season as the WPIAL will start playoff action this coming weekend. Other parts of the state have a week or so to go in the regular season. Today the Pantherlair has highlights of players that should be of interest to our readers.
The Southern Columbia Tigers are ranked No. 1 in the state in Class A. The Tigers are on the prowl for their fifth consecutive state championship. They beat rival Central Columbia Friday night by a score of 35-12 to improve their record to 9-0. Pitt commit Henry Hynoski rushed for 93 yards on 7 carries. Henry scored 2 touchdowns including one from 54-yards out. Hynoski set a school record for career touchdowns with 94. He passed Tiger legend Jerry Marks. Southern Columbia will finish their regular season at home Friday night against Danville (4-5).
Manheim Township (7-2, 5-1) traveled to West Lawn and was beaten by the Wilson Bulldogs (8-1) 21-5. Quarterback Pat Bostick was held to 54 yards passing. The game was played in the rain and on a muddy field. Bostick threw 1 interception and was sacked 3 times. The Blue Streaks will try to regroup in a road game this coming weekend at Penn Manor (5-4) which features Pitt commit Jordan Gibbs.
