Coker: We've got to play smarter

A day after Miami's stunning almost-loss at winless Duke, coach Larry Coker spoke more about the game in which the Canes eked out a 20-15 win.

"I was very pleased with the win," Coker said. "As you look around the country, a 20-15 win is a good win on the road, especially with all the adversity we faced last week minus several players. We did wear down some in the second half. We used a lot of guys -- they had to play the entire game. It did take a toll on us in the second half. I thought Kenny Phillips played an outstanding game [with] three interceptions. He played a lot of corner because of what we had, had never played corner before. That was a plus for him. Willie Cooper made some big plays, a big stop [after a 39-yard catch at the end of the game] and the interception was huge.
