Miami junior could be one of the best
Pass-rushing defensive lineman Benjamin Jones is one of several Division I-A prospects at Miami's Northwestern High for the Class of 2008. But the 6-foot-6, 275-pounder could be one of the most highly-coveted.
Jones holds one early scholarship offer and is getting attention from a number of other programs.
"The University of Miami offered me and I have been talking to Florida State, UCLA, Alabama and Clemson," Jones said.
The Seminoles, who Jones grew up pulling for, and Hurricanes, along with Notre Dame, have invited Jones to make unofficial visits for football games this season.
"I just haven't been able to go," he said.
When Jones makes his decision, he will be taking a number of factors into account.
"Academics are No. 1," he said. "Second will be the coaching staff and see if they play my style of football. I'm a pass-rusher."
Jones plays every position on the defensive line.
"I am explosive off the ball," he said.
Jones likes the fact that he has other Division I-A prospects like senior running back Antwain Easterling, junior defensive tackle Marcus Forston and junior wide receiver Aldarius Johnson, among others, on his team.
