Conference Capsule: Can Tigers keep rolling?

Count Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel among those who at least publicly won't yet start the countdown clock to an undefeated regular season. The No. 17-ranked Tigers are 6-0 and off to their best start since 1973 as they enter the final six games, starting with a matchup at Texas A&M at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in College Station, Texas. History suggests going the distance is a tough chore in the North.

Missouri becomes just the eighth North team to start perfect in its first six games since the Big 12 Conference was formed in 1996. Nebraska has done it four times and Kansas State three.

Of those seven teams between Nebraska and K-State that started 6-0, only four of them saw 7-0.

Three of them - Nebraska 1997 and 2001, and K-State 1998 - left the regular season unscathed.

What is Pinkel doing for the Tigers, whose seven-game winning streak (dating back to the Independence Bowl) is the fourth-longest active streak in Division I-A? He's keeping the high-flying group grounded, of course.
