Travis Reier's Top 10 Tiders

The following is a list of Top 10 Tiders for Week 6 of the 2006 football season. Every Wednesday, BOL senior writer Travis Reier lists his top 10 Tide performers. In effect, the list serves as a week-to-week ranking of Alabama's most valuable players.

1. DJ Hall Last Week: 2
Despite being limited to four catches for 36 yards in the loss to Florida, Brown hangs on to the top spot. Currently ranks eighth on UA's all-time list with 1,383 receiving yards. Brown and DJ Hall have accounted for 69 percent of the Tide's receiving yards and 71.4 percent of its touchdowns this season

2. Keith Brown Last Week: 1
Rocketed up to the second spot after posting his second straight 100-yard receiving game. Moved ahead of Brown on UA's all-time receptions list -- he's now 11th -- with six grabs at Florida. Averaging 21.2 yards per reception on 17 catches.

3. Antoine Caldwell Last Week: 3
Caldwell has played 325 of a possible 346 snaps on offense this season and has graded out as the Tide's top offensive lineman in all five games. Has 17 consecutive starts to his credit.

4. Wallace Gilberry Last Week: 4
Didn't record a tackle at Florida. Leads all defensive linemen with 208 snaps this season. In 29 career games, Gilberry has posted 80 tackles, 22 TFLs and eight sacks.

5. John Parker Wilson Last Week: 6
Held his own while going toe-to-toe with Florida DE Jarvis Moss, one of the SEC's top pass rushers. Including special teams, Smith has played 349 snaps this season.

6. Andre Smith Last Week: 5
Despite throwing three interceptions in Gainesville, Wilson continues to rank among the top QBs in the SEC. Minimized two mistakes against UF by recording a tackle and recovering a fumble. Currently ranks fourth in the SEC in total offense (240.25 ypg). The sophomore is averaging 14.2 yards per completion on third down this season. Thanks largely to Wilson, the Tide ranks fourth in the SEC in third down conversions (48 percent).

7. Kenneth Darby Last Week: 10
Got the Tide on the scoreboard at UF when he scooped up a Gator fumble and raced 50 yards for a TD. Played a season-high 47 snaps in Gainesville. Diving breakup of a third-quarter shovel pass forced a UF field goal attempts that hooked wide left. UA's third-leading tackler with 21 stops.

8. Jeffrey Dukes Last Week: Fringe
The junior's breakup of a Chris Leak pass in the end zone was one of the Tide's defensive highlights in the loss to Florida. Also recorded five tackles against the Gators. UA's active career leader in interceptions with seven.

9. Simeon Castille Last Week: 8
Florida game marked Mitchell's third-straight start at right cornerback. Logged four tackles in 42 snaps against the Gators. Kept Leak out of the end zone after tracking him down at the end of a 45-yard run in the second quarter.

10. Lionel Mitchell Last Week: 9
Ran for 74 yards on 14 carries at Florida. Second game this season in which he averaged five yards or more per carry. Darby will play in his 40th career game this Saturday against Duke. Has now gone seven games without surpassing the 100-yard rushing mark.
