Give it to Gerhart

As we all know by now, Stanford is on its way to a disappointing season. However, there are still games left on their schedule that they can win. It can be argued that one of those games is UCLA, though the task of winning a road game is daunting.

Whether UCLA is the first game Stanford is going to win is unknown, however, if Stanford is going to win games, it must commit to the run.

Sure, Trent Edwards deserves to be the leader of this team. He has been through much adversity and is easily the key to the team on offense. Without him, things at Stanford could actually be worse than they already are.

With that being said, Edwards simply can not do it all. Stanford must use the running game more if they hope to win football games.

In complete honesty, the Stanford defense simply is not good. Thus, you want them on the field for the least amount of time as possible. In order to do that, the Cardinal must control the clock.

The best way to do this is not with Edwards dropping back and flinging it, but rather with Stanford committing to the running game.
