Five on the Spot

This is the Five on the Spot for Week 2. These are the five players this week that must come through for their team.

1. Kenneth Darby
With DJ Hall suspended, Brown carried the Tide's receiving corps in the win over Hawai'i, pulling in six passes for 132 yards and one touchdown. The fact that Brown made most of his catches in traffic was most encouraging.

2. Antoine Caldwell Last Week: NR
Caldwell picked up SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors after grading out at 90 percent in the season opener. With Caldwell settled in at center, the push in the middle opposing defenses were able to get against Alabama a season ago may be a thing of the past.

3. Wallace Gilberry Last Week: NR
Gilberry recorded two of the defensive front's three quarterback hurries against Hawai'i. It was Gilberry's pressure that resulted in UH quarterback Colt Brennan being intercepted by Lionel Mitchell on the game's final play. The junior has a date with Vanderbilt RT Brian Stamper, one of the SEC's top tackles, this week.

4. John Parker Wilson Last Week: NR
Though he completed 16-of-29 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown, Wilson never was totally in synch in his first start. But he did take care of the ball and he also gave his receivers the opportunity to make plays. The sophomore is capable of putting up bigger numbers in the future -- and he will.

5. Juwan Simpson Last Week: NR
After months of speculation, Simpson did indeed play in the opener. The senior's nine tackles led the defense against Hawai'i. He was also credited with a quarterback hurry.
