McKnight ready for the season
River Ridge (La.) John Curtis athlete Joe McKnight proves that there is strength in versatility.
The 6-foot-1, 200-pound speed merchant can play tailback, receiver, cornerback and can also factor into the return game. Last season, the state of Louisiana's top prospect scored 22 touchdowns five different ways, including nine rushing, five receiving, four punt returns, three interception returns and one kickoff return.
McKnight, the nation's No. 14 overall prospect according to Rivals.com, aims to improve his numbers across the board.
"My goals are to try to increase my touchdowns, rushing yards and passing yards and get some more tackles," he said.
If preseason scrimmages are any indication, he appears to be well on his way.
"Practice has been going really good," McKnight said. "It's a lot of fun right now. We just played John Ehret High School in a scrimmage and I did good. I didn't touch the ground and scored three times."
