True freshman changes position
Auburn's Mario Fannin was recruited as an athlete out of Lovejoy, Ga., but most everyone expected the high school quarterback to find a home at running back or safety in college.
The 5-foot-11, 214-pounder did spend nearly the first three weeks of practice at tailback before moving to wide receiver on Tuesday. The decision to change positions was a joint one between Fannin and the AU coaching staff.
"Basically it's just a way for me to get on the field faster and help the team," said Fannin. "That's why we came to the choice. I told the coaches when I got here that I just wanted to help the team this year."
