Vandy offers Hoffarber, count now at 22
A player who might be familiar to some but still much of a sleeper to others is Hopkins, Minnesota shooting guard Blake Hoffarber. The 6-foot-4, 195 pound rising senior at Hopkins High has already gained national notority for his miracle shot in the 2005 Minnesota Class 4-A State Championship game, taking the game into overtime, where Hopkins would eventually win the championship.
Hoffarber's shot, which he made on his back after grabbing a loose ball off the floor, was so nationally known that it won the ESPN Network's Espy Award for "Best Play of the Year". The honor, which was the first ever awarded to a high school athlete, might have been the extent of many of America's exposure to the talented player who was then just a sophomore. But that is likely to change in the coming years.
