Position breakdown: The return team

As athletic as they come, Omarr Conner, can be called a jack-of-all-trades. His leadership and experienced will be needed any way he can give it. He has the shake and wiggle that can turn the Bulldogs special teams into strength. Once he gets down to his target weight look for an even faster, quicker, and more agile Conner.

"Omarr Conner will handle the punt return duties," Coach Melvin Smith said. "It's evident what we think Omarr can bring to return game and that's why we have him back there."

Derek Pegues showed a glimpse of his potential during Mississippi State's first scrimmage by returning a kickoff back for a touchdown. His speed is not a question, neither are his athletic abilities.

If you think so, check out his rankings from high school, and ask all the guys he ran past - and through - in high school. He handled the kick return duties as a true freshmen and was consistent; you can definitely expect better results than last year.

"Derek Pegues will handle the kickoff return duties," Smith continued. "He helped us out last year in that capacity and did well. He has a year of experience under his belt and I think that will help him."
