A&M takes part in first morning practice

The Aggies held their first morning practice Thursday, taking a quick turnaround from Wednesday's late afternoon work. Coach Dennis Franchione said that he was pleasantly surprised by the team's performance, noting that everyone seemed to be moving at full speed and enthusiastic despite the change in schedule.

Though the comments after yesterday's practice were somewhat limited, they did contain the first possible "uh oh" of the fall when Fran noted that several players, including junior wideout Earvin Taylor and freshman linebacker Anthony Lewis, hadn't been practicing because of hamstring injuries.

There's been conflicting reports on whether Lewis is even supposed to see the field this year, but considering the play at the linebacker position the past several years, it would be difficult to believe a player with his resume wouldn't play at some point. However, if the hamstring does keep him out a while, his loss would mean a solid top four of Justin Warren, Mark Dodge, Misi Tupe and Matt Featherston.
